Chengdu is a sub-provincial city of the People's Republic of China. Chengdu is also the capital city of the Sichuan Province of the country. The city lies in the southwestern region of the Mainland China. It is located in the Chengdu Plain. In the Chinese language the place is called Tianfu zhi guo, meaning "the Heavenly country".
