Surrounded by hills, the city of Hangzhou is a beautiful tourist attraction in the People's Republic of China. It is a sub-provincial city in the Mainland China. Hangzhou is also the capital city of the province called Zhejiang. Hangzhou is situated in the southwestern side of Shanghai almost 180 kilometers away from the city. The total population of the city is almost 1.75 million. The Zhejiang and Jiangsu people form the majority of the population of the city. Their native language is the Wu dialect. However, the language Putonghua or Mandarin is also widely spoken in the city.
