Dalian Art Gallery is the premium and most important art gallery of the city. The gallery is situated at the southern tip of Russian Street and is located in an old Russian building, which was built in the year 1910. Lushun or Port Arthur is one of the major historical spots of Dalian. Now the place has been transformed into a military museum. Lushun right from Jin Dynasty to Liao Dynasty was an area of strategic military importance. The area reflects the tumultuous history of the city; in the year 1894 Lushun was taken under siege by the Japanese and during the 1904 it was a major battlefield during the Russo-Japanese war. Presently the place has been transformed into an open museum reflecting the cultural and historical heritage of the city.
