Dalian is sub-provincial city in the eastern part of Liaoning Province of China. The city of Dalian in Northeast China is one of the important cities in the nation. Dalian is one of the favorite tourist destinations in China. In the year 2005, about 600 thousand tourists from foreign countries came to visit the city of Dalian. This achievement in tourism industry has brought Dalian many awards and honors. The United Nations has recognized Dalian as one of the world's Top 500 Cities of Excellent Environment. This was only the second occasion when a metropolis in Asia won this prestigious title. The title also makes Dalian the sole city in China to be honored by such kind of an award. The city is decorated with beautiful lawns, stunning fountains and attractive squares. Dalian is home to green landscape that is spread over 13 million square meters, the largest in North China. This explains why Dalian is also referred to as a Garden City. Dalian tourism offers fantastic beaches that are set on exotic locations. Some of the famous beaches are Tiger beach, Fujiazhuang beach, Jinshitan beach, Xinghai beach, Jinshitan beach, the Golden Pebble Beach and others. Lush golf courses, forests, amusement parks and activities like cross country motorcycling and swimming make Dalian a popular tourist attraction. The city has even earned praise of Former president Jiang Zemin, who termed Dalian as the `Bright Pearl in North China'.
