In this fast changing world, air travel is increasingly becoming a necessity than
anything else. A city nowadays is known by its major international airport. An
international airport often contributes to the boom in tourism. Dalian International
Airport in China is one such airport that has, over the years, attracting
a lot of domestic and international tourists to Dalian.
Covering a total land area of 284.46 hectors, Dalian International Airport
has a number of runways totaling 3300 meter in length. This airport ranks among
the top four airports in North-east China. The airport is however not just mammoth
in size only. Busy throughout the day, Dalian International Airport sees flights
constantly taking off and landing to and from various international destinations.
Dalian International Airport sees flights of 22 air line companies. The airport
is in fact so busy that 118 new flight courses have to be opened besides already
existing routes. The new 118 flight routes cover 89 cities domestically and
36 foreign cities stretching across 15 countries abroad. Though the air traffic
control manages more than 1300 flights per week, there is no delay in either
taking off or landing save poor weather conditions and low visibility.
The success of Dalian International Airport can be ascertained from the fact
that within a very short time since its opening, the airport in terms of passenger
volume, freight and post volume has held the number one position among 12 civil
airports in Northeast China. In 2005 alone, Dalian International Airport transported
a whopping 5.41 million people.
International carriers such as Air China, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airlines
and a host of other renowned passenger and freight carriers use the services
of this massive facility. Not only in terms of flight have landing but the airport
taxied passengers by an airport bus to the main train station. The service runs
efficiently with bus leaving as soon as an aircraft lands on the tarmac. Apart
from the airport bus, private bus service also operates from the airport to
the train station.
