China City Transport
China - Xian - Beijing - Guangzhou - Chengdu - Dalian - Shenzhen - Shanghai - Hangzhou
China City Transport is a happy family of buses, pedicabs, rickshaws, motorcycles, cars, bicycles, taxis and subways. Can't exactly be called a small and happy family though!
Travel by taxi in the cities of China calls for a little bit of caution on your part. You might take a longer time to reach your destination that what you expected without realizing that the taxi driver is trying to fool you! Well, it's not that bad, just that you have to be a bit careful while availing the services of the taxi, which remains an indispensable part of the China City Transport.
The sweetest member of the family of the China City Transport is the pedicab or the minicab. For traveling to nearby places the people prefer the pedicabs to the normal taxis. Another accepted means of traveling in the metropolitan cities of China is the subway system. Apart form being clean and resourceful, they also carry a twin language sign in Chinese and English.
The bicycles and the motorcycles are also important part of the China City Transport to such an extent that China has been named the "bicycle kingdom"! for the tourist these means are not considered to be safe as they are not well versed with the traffic rules and road conditions. So, it is better to just enjoy seeing people ride them rather than ride them yourself!
Take a ride in the Sanlunche! Didn't get it? It's the Chinese version of the peddled and the auto rickshaws and one of the members of the China City Transport family. But you need to be a bit careful and remain calm and composed if you see a rickshaw driver wearing fashionable costumes, like they say good to look at but dearer to pay! So better go for the Sanlunche only if and when you see them being used by the localites.
