The Yuexiu Park is the home to some of the cities cultural relics and is a grand specimen of ecological tourism. The things worth notable in the Park consists of the statue of the Five Rams, the Ming Dynasty City Wall, the Square Cannon site and the Zhenhai Lou and the Sun Yat Sen. Monument.
Features of Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou
- The Park is one of the oldest parks in the whole of Guangzhou city. Among all the relics, the Five Ram Sculpture in the Park has become the identity of the city. This sculpture is one of the greatest attractions in the park and attracts maximum crowd. According to the local belief, the statue is the outcome of an ancient myth and is known to bring good luck and fortune to the city.
- Zhenhai Lou or the five storey tower is the second most important relic in the park. The tower stands high on top of the Yuexiu Mountain and is the best point to enjoy the striking scenes of the city. Zhenhai Lou is now home to the Guangzhou Museum which preserves the cultural relics as well as the documents related with the development of the ancient city.
- As a tribute to the great nationalist Sun Yat Sen, also hailed as the Father of the modern day China, a monument has been built on top of the mountain.
- The natural beauty of the Park is enhanced by the extensive collection of plants and the bird species. To add more glory there are three beautiful lakes named Dongxiu, Beixiu and Nanxiu. The two lakes Dongxiu and Nanxiu are inspiration for the painters and artists. While the tranquil surroundings of the Beixiu Lake are appropriate for activities like boating and fishing.
- Interestingly enough, the lakes are connected with arch bridges with decorative features belonging to the Lingnan style.
- The Park also enjoys the facilities of dining along with an amusement arena and is the venue for Flower exhibitions during the spring or fall season. The Park can be entered through any of the five gates.
