If you are great lover of the outdoors and love spending your time in parks and
gardens, then on your holiday in Hangzhou , you cannot but spend hours in the
beautiful, designer landscaped Hangzhou parks and gardens. Hangzhou has been traditionally
described as a paradise and this superlative is being used for this capital city
of Zhejiang province from time immemorial. Chinese history reveals that Southern
Song Dynasty had given Hangzhou an important place during its reign. In fact the
natural scenic beauty of Hangzhou had made several Chinese people travel to this
city to make their residence and living here. Some of the parks are relics of
the pleasure gardens of the erstwhile Chinese Emperors, but now they have been
enlarged and their beauty enhanced.
Amongst the Hangzhou parks and gardens, some are really wonderful with innovative
poetic names like Orioles Singing in the Willows. Here you will find willow
trees and get to hear the magical sweet trilling of orioles (songbird). Nearly
all the parks in the city have pavilions and other structures to enable you
to enjoy yourself better, this park is also no exception. Relax completely in
its verdure, it was a pleasure garden of the Southern Song Dynasty Emperors.
Make time to visit Fuschun Peach Garden on Shanghai-Hangzhou Highway. The garden
is of fifteen square kilometers and has Xiaoyao Rock Lake, Natural Sweat Oak
Woods, Sky Cloud Cave, Recreational Swan Dancing Ground and Peach Garden Sanjia
Village. Try and spend some time in the picturesque villages nearby. Another
place of great attraction is the Hangzhou Botanical Garden in the northwest
end of West Lake. Here you will find not only great beauty but also great information.
There is a research wing in the garden where studious attention is given to
the cultivation of plants and protection of the environment.
