If you are interested in visiting the places around Hangzhou, you must not miss out on the Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area that is located in the Tiantai County. The place is spectacular for its lush areas of green and there are also plenty of ancient Buddhist temples located in this place, making it an important religious destination for the Buddhists. The scenic beauty of the place has been inspiration to many poets from the early days and even today it attracts hordes of tourists from all parts of the world especially during the summer time. The mountain also grows fog tea that is a very special type of Green tea. The most significant sites in the Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area include the beautiful Shilang Waterfall, Guoqing Temple and the Huading Peak.

Shilang Waterfall: The waterfall takes its name from a stone beam that spans two steep cliffs called the Shilang. The waterfall falls plunges down from a height of 98 feet and it is most certainly a magnificent sight.

Guoqing Temple: The Guoqing temple is about 220 kilometers away from Hangzhou. The temple is situated at the foot of Tiantai Mountain and its origin can be traced back to as early as 598 AD and the Chinese Tiantai Sect of Buddhism established this temple. It is a huge piece of architecture and has 600 rooms and 4 magnificent halls.

Huading Peak: It is the highest peak of the Tiantai mountain and due to its massive height it is always shrouded by shreds of clouds. The Huading peak is right at the center of the mountain range and the sun rising from behind this giant peak is sight of unforgettable beauty.

Admission charge: you are required to pay a nominal charge of CNY 10. However, you have to pay a few more extra bucks for entering the Guoqing Monastery.
