Shanghai Maglev Train of China is the first commercial high-speed maglev line in the world. Maglev is a h igh-speed rail technology where the train is suspended on a magnetic cushion above a magnetized track. This way, the train is able to travel free of friction.
Shanghai Maglev Train is operated by Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Co. Ltd. Beginning on March 2001, he construction of the Shanghai Maglev Train was completed and by 1 st January 2004, it had started its public service. The Shanghai Maglev train can has a maximum speed of 431 km/h (267 mp/h). It can get to a speed of 350 km/h (220 mph) in only two minutes.
On 12 th November 2003, the Maglev Train of Shanghai was put on a test run. The train achieved to run at a speed of 501km/h. This is till date, the highest speed achieved by any Trans-rapid vehicle. Shanghai Maglev Train usually operates from 7 o' clock in the morning and continues up to 9 o' clock in the night.
Shanghai Maglev Train runs between Longyang Road station, which is on the Shanghai subway line 2 and Pudong International Airport. The total length of the railway track is about 30 kilometers. At the top speed of 431 kilometers per hour, it only takes seven minutes and twenty seconds to complete the whole journey.
