Shanghai is an important cosmopolitan city of the Peoples Republic of China. The city features a number of attractions and is known for its world class shopping destinations. Yuyuan Gardens is located in the center of the Old City in Shanghai. The gardens are one of the few remaining tourist sites in Shanghai. The Yuyuan gardens are surrounded by Shanghai's bazaar and a maze of small streets where vendors sell wares and food to visitors coming to the gardens.
It is believed that Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai was built during the 16 th century when Zhang Nanyang, an architect was asked to construct the garden by the Pan family of the Ming court. The gardens are built in true traditional Chinese style and features numerous rock and tree areas and walls that are dragon lined. On entering the gardens you will come across numerous doorways and zigzagging bridges that separate the various garden areas and pavilions.
If you are first time visitor to the Yuyuan Gardens, you will definitely be struck by the sheer beauty of the landscaping. There are small ponds that are surrounded by rocks, trees and shrubbery.
