Shanghai Museums

Shanghai is China's largest city. The city is also regarded as the eighth largest city in the world. Situated on the banks of the Yangtze River delta in East China, Shanghai is a city full of museums.

With a height of 29.5 meters and sprawling across 39,200 meters, the Shanghai Museum showcases a rare collection of more than 1, 20,000 Chinese works of art, bronze and terracotta statues. The museum building incorporates Chinese philosophy.

The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum explains complex topics like the laws of physics, chemistry, mathematical formulas as well as robot technology in an easy manner through interactive computer models. This museum boasts of a state-of-the-art IMAX theatre.

The controversial China Sex Museum in Shanghai exhibits over 3700 erotic toys and human statues depicting sex. Located in Tongli, the museum is visited daily by a lot of people.

You can visit the former residence of the respected founder of the Chinese republic-Sun Yat Sen, in a guided tour. The residence has now been converted into a museum which displays the library, bedroom as well as the study room of this former leader.

The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall offers a rare glimpse of the futuristic Shanghai through a miniature replica. The building also houses a replica of the old Shanghai.
