Sun Zhongshan Guju Shanghai

Former residence of Sun Yat-Sen, the respected founder of the Chinese republic temporarily lived with his wife in Sun Zhongshan Guju. During their four year stay here from June 1918 to November1924, Sun's wife Soong Ching-Ling met with some of the world's best literary masters like George Bernard Shaw and Lu Xun. Often visited by the political leaders, this former residence of Sun Yat-Sen also welcomed Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh in 1933.

This house can be visited on a guided tour. Accompanied by an English speaking guide, the tourists enter through the kitchen door. Consisting of over 2700 volumes, Sun's library is adjacent to his study room. The study room upstairs is littered with his hand drawn maps, brushes and ink stones.

The bedroom and the drawing room are well furnished. In the bedroom an original “Zhongshan” suit is exhibited. This suit resembles the later Mao Zedong suit. There is a nice garden at the back of this house.

Opened on all seven days, the visiting hours range between 9 o' clock in the morning and 4:30 in the evening. The entrance ticket is priced at only 8 Yuan per person. Located at Luwan, Sun Zhongshan Guju in Shanghai can be conveniently reached by metro.
