Shanghai, the eighth largest city of the world is also the largest city in China. Each year, tourists come to this wonderful metropolis and have a blast during their vacations. The months of July and August are the hottest, recording an average high of 32 degrees. In spite of being hot and humid, summer is the peak season for tourism. Summers experience torrential rain quite frequently. Spring is quite a wonderful season to be in Shanghai. The spring season usually arrives in March. But the season receives frequent spells of rain, and the temperature also varies. Fall or autumn starts in September. Come December and it is winter in Shanghai. Shanghai winters are at times very chilly. Winter temperature often tends to drop below zero and records minus temperatures. Often during a year, the city experiences a few spells of typhoon. The cyclone inflicts a considerable amount of damage to the city.
