The tower is situated in the middle of the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Districts in Pudong.

The tower built in the year 1999, features 88 stories and covers an area of 2.3 hectares. Architect, Adrian D. Smith was responsible for designing the tower and he seamlessly blended elements of traditional Chinese culture with the contemporary architectural styles as a result of which Jin Mao Tower emerges as one of the best-constructed buildings in China. The tower is home to modern offices, exhibition halls, banquet halls, an observation deck, and entertainment facilities along with the deluxe Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel. It also features an annex building of 6-stories high that boasts exhibition halls, conference rooms, multi-function halls, grand banquet halls and a recreational center.

The basement of the tower comprises of a parking area, which is 3 stories deep. The parking area of the tower can accommodate about 800 cars and 2000 bicycles. Since security is major problems these days, therefore the parking area is equipped with 360-degree surveillance cameras and security guards.

Jin Mao Tower is conveniently located; you can access it easily from Puxi, Hongqiao and Pudong. The tower is 30 minutes away from the International Airport of the city.
