The city of Shanghai is located on the Western Pacific Rim at the Yangtze estuary. Shanghai is one of the most important international ports in the Far East. The city is the center of economy, industry, trade, commerce, technology and culture. The city has a rich heritage with over 6000 years of history. Shanghai is one of the four municipalities under the direct jurisdiction of the Central Government. Shanghai lies to the eastern coastal line of China. Shanghai also happens to be the largest city of China and also the hub in terms of water, land and air communication. The city is an important place of tourism and has a number of popular attractions. The Yuyuan Pagoda is an important sightseeing destination in Shanghai. The Yuyuan Pagoda in Shanghai is located in the southern part of the city of the proper. The garden was constructed during the Ming Dynasty which ruled from 1368- 1644. The garden is divided in to five parts and there are more than 30 scenic spots. The most outstanding part of the garden is the Great Rockery which was built with about 2000 tons of rocks. It also features perilous peaks, cliffs, winding caves and gorges. The Yuyuan Pagoda in Shanghai is claimed to be the most magnificent rockery during the Ming Dynasty in Southeast China. The Yangshan Hall and the Juanyu Tower face each other across a lake. Once could enjoy beautiful sights and fish swimming in the water.
