The Great Beijing-Kowloon Railway and the Beijing-Guangdong-Kowloon railway meet at Shenzhen and connect inland cities, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong together. Long-range trains attach directly to Shenzhen from Beijing, Changsha (Hunan) , and Jiujiang (Wuhan). The high-speed railway between Guangzhou and Shenzhen is No. 1 in the nation, with 40 trains scheduled each day.

Shenzhen has a well urbanized road system including several highways like Guangzhou-Shenzhen Highway on the east, Meilin-Guanlan Highway in the center, Shenzhen-Shantou Highway on the west, and Airport-Henggang-He'ao Highway on the North. There are several publicly-run as well as privately-run bus services in Shenzhen. Eight long-distance bus services connect many cities with Shenzhen.
