The Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is also called the Huangtian Airport, as it is located in the Huangtian Village 32 kilometers from the center of the city of Shenzhen. The airport was inaugurated on October 12, 1991, and occupies an area of 10.8 sq. kilometers with a runway that is 3400 meters long, 45 meters wide with 53 parking spaces. By 2003, the air service of the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport provided connectivity to 148 domestic destinations and 11 international destinations.

There are about 10,842,800 passengers who board the flights and almost 406,600 tons of cargo which are handled on air. The airport has ferry routes to the Hong Kong International Airport where passengers can transit without having to go through immigration and custom checks like transit between two flights. Airline services are offered by Air China, Air Macau, Aseana Airlines, Bangkok Airways, China Southern Airlines, Korean Air and Shanghai Airlines among many others.

Air traffic is handled between various cities of Osaka, Kansai, Seoul, Nanchang, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta etc. 70 domestic flight routes and 5 international routes operate in and out of the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport which is one of the busiest in China. A shuttle bus connects the airport to the city center.
