Shenzhen Port

China - Xian - Beijing - Guangzhou - Chengdu - Dalian - Shenzhen - Shanghai - Hangzhou
The Shenzhen Port in the Pearl River delta in China’s Guangdong Province lies adjacent to Hong Kong. The coastline which extends up to 260 kilometers is divided into two halves by the Kowloon Peninsula into the western and the eastern. The western port of Shenzhen lies east to the Lingdingyang in the Pearl River estuary. It contains a deep water harbor which provides the bay with excellent natural shelters.

Located 20 nautical miles from Hong Kong to the south and 60 nautical miles from Guangzhou to the north, the western port area across the delta is connected with other cities and counties. By crossing the On See Dun waterway, it stretches to all ports both at home and abroad. The eastern port area is situated north of the Dapeng Bay where the harbor is wide and calm and is regarded as South China’s best natural wharf. In 2005, Shenzhen handled a record number of cargo as well as containers and ranked as the fourth busiest port in the world.

The augmentation of trade and industry down the years increased cargo shipments through the city. There has been a 19% increase in the 16.2 million standard foot boxes are shipped via the Shenzhen Port. This is one of the reasons as to why investors in Shenzhen are willing to expand commerce. There are regular scheduled passenger liners from Shenzhen to Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Kowloon, Macau and Hong Kong.
