The usual norm for men is to be seen in conservative suits with delicate colors. Women tend to avoid high heels and short sleeved blouses. They should put on both subtle and neutral colors. This rule applies for casuals as well. For the purpose of business, jeans are not acceptable, whereas revealing clothing is considered offensive. The behavioral differences that you need to look at include:
- Avoiding large hand movements, which may distract your host, for the Chinese do not speak with their hands.
- The common greeting, apart from the modern handshake, is bowing or nodding. One should wait for the host to offer their hands first.
- The crowd applauses as a gesture of greeting and the same are expected in return.
- Many Chinese want to consult with the stars or wait for an auspicious day to make a decision.
