Xian Xianyang International Airport is the international airport of the city of Xian. The airport is located in the outskirts of the Xian city, Shaanxi . This is a very popular airport and as the city of Xian is centrally located, the role and importance of the Xian Xianyang International Airport becomes even more important as it serves as the main link between the east and the west of China. It is also taken as an important communications hub as well.
The Xian Xianyang International Airport was started in the year 1991. However, prior to that there was another airport named Xian Xiguan Airport which was serving the purpose. But once the new Xian Xianyang International Airport was inaugurated the other older one was closed down and all the civil air traffic was shifted to the new one. The first round of work for the Xian Xianyang International Airport was started in 1987 and it was completed in 1991. The second round of work started in the year 2000 and was completed in the year 2003. This airport is one of the largest in the northwestern part of China.
The Xian Xianyang International Airport is hugh in size. It is approximately 103.8 acres in size. The airport is extremely spacious with rooms. There are numerous gates of the airport which makes it really easy and simple for the passengers. There are many additional facilities as well. For example there are many restaurants which are there at the airport. There are duty free or Tax Free shops as well. Airport Transportation is also available in the Xian Xianyang International Airport. One of the main reasons behind the expansion of the Xian Xianyang International Airport is due to the immense increase in the air traffic both in terms of cargos and passengers as well. There is an economic aspect as well attached to the growth and expansion of the Xian Xianyang International Airport.
