The capital of the Shaanxi Province in China, Xian offers various fascinating and fabulous tourist attractions. Mt. Huashan, Xian is one of them.
This mountain is considered to be one of the holy mountains in China. Earlier it was called Mt. Taihuashan. Located in the county of Huayin, this mountain range is about 120 kilometers from the east of Xian. It is famous for its spectacular and gorgeous crags and ridges, and offers stunning views. It comprises of five major peaks – the North Peak, the East Peak, the South peak, the West Peak and the Middle Peak. Each of them has its own charm and grace.
The North Peak and The Middle Peak are popularly known as Yuntai Peak and Pure Girl Peak. The highest peak of Mt. Huashan, Xian is the South Peak or the Landing Wild Goose Peak. At the top you can get to see the Greeting Pines and the Black Dragon Pool. You will also get to see the Jintian Palce or Baidi Temple. Around the South Peak are situated other peaks like Xiaozi Peak and Songhui Peak.
A glorious sun rise can be witnessed from the East Peak or the Facing Sun Peak. The steps built will take you easily to the top of this peak. The peak is characterized by its calm and quiet natural surroundings. The stone veins implying a palm is a notable feature in this peak. However it is to be remembered that it takes for about five to six hours to reach the peak by walking.
The West Peak of Mt. Huashan, Xian is also called the Lotus Flower Peak and features a granite rock. Among the significant tourist sites some are Cuiyun Palace, Lotus Flower Cave and Axe-hewing Rock. All of them bear separate myths which lend them a magical beauty.
You can reach the North Peak of Mt. Huashan, Xian by ropeway from Wamiaogou or you can travel on foot from the Yuquan Palace. If you decide to journey on foot from Yuquan, this will give you the exclusive opportunity and pleasure of visiting Golden Lock Pass, Returning Rock, Ca'er Precipice, and Baizhang Cliff and Laojun Ditch. To reach the spot, you can also avail train till Mt. Huashan Station, or can board a bus from Yuxiang Gate.
