Chang'an Annual lnternational Calligraphy Meeting is a commemoration of Chinese
classical writing styles. Organized in Xian of Shaanxi Province of China, the
festival has been celebrated with pomp and grandeur in the last week of March.
A great is held. Inscriptions are written on a 100-meter-long scroll. The Chinese
and foreign calligraphers' association issues annual meeting certificates, and
the four treasures of the study (writing brush, ink slab, ink stick and paper)
are put on exhibition.
Changan near Xian, is a place from which many renowned calligraphists have
come in great numbers. The place has the most calligraphic masterpieces in China
and the deserved to be called the home of calligraphy. The Chang'an International
Calligraphy Meeting was first held in 1986 and attracted many famous calligraphists
from both home and abroad. It has now evolved in to a grand annual event in
which the calligraphists swap their writing skills and make friends.
Tourists may visit and appreciate the calligraphy masterpieces engraved on
stone tablets at the Forest of Steles, Jiucheng and Shimen..
