The mystical continent of Africa is not only famous for its Kalahari and Sahara
Deserts but also for its wildlife all over the world. This place has a lot to
offer in terms of tourist attractions and places of sight seeing. The mystical
Pyramids of Gaza now do not remain the only identification mark for the recognition
of Egypt and the continent of Africa. Abu Simbel is now gaining acceptance almost
in all the major tourist portals in the world. Now, being in Egypt is not only
being under the hot and scorching sun but is also witnessing the unfrequented
parts of this mystic civilization.
Sightseeing is one of the most common and indispensable activities in the process
of the tourist activities. But Sightseeing in Abu Simbel is a bit different! It
is because of the fact that this particular place has no stereotype tourist places
to offer but more of the historical monuments and other structures, which depict
the age old culture and heritage of Egypt.
The Temple of Ramesses II.
This is one of the most ancient temples ever built in the history of Egypt.
Its sculpture, when built was magnificent as even now it often leaves the visitor
awe struck and flabbergasted to witness such an old architecture in a still
mesmerizing stance. Its age old structure is still able to hypnotize the visitors
with its age old grandeur. This place offers a great deal of excitement for
the historians all over the world, as it lifts the veil from the many myths
which the ancient royal families had in store. Sightseeing in Abu Simbel is
worth it! This temple is dedicated to the gods Amun Ra, Ra Harakhti, and Ptah.
The basic motive behind building this temple was to worship the sun god. The
temple is of the period of around 1265 B.C.
Sightseeing in Abu Simbel also involves another excitement which is:
Nefertari's Temple of Hathor.
This temple is another example of the architecture of Egypt in its finest form.
Due to its old structure it has now become a bit damaged but its very presence
can catch the eye of the tourist and he is compelled to look on to it for some
moments. Nefertari was the principal wife of Ramesses the Great. The word Nefertari
means a companion who is beautiful. Her tomb is the best decorated and extravagant
in the Valley of the Queens.
