The Muntazah Complex in Alexandria, Egypt was originally the summer residence of the Egyptian Royal family and from here only the last king of Egypt left the country on a boat and headed for Italy in 1952. King Abbas II started the construction of the Muntazah Complex in 1892 and he built a large palace inside the complex called the Salamlek and King Fuad built a larger palace in 1932 and called it the Haramlik.Son of King Fuad, King Farouk, built a bridge to the sea to act as a water front. The rest of the area in the 115 acres of Muntazah Complex, Alexandria is covered by beautiful gardens that enchant the visitors with their colorful vegetation and tranquil ambiance all through the year. The two most significant buildings in the Muntazah Complex, Haramlek and the Salamlek have been transformed into hotels to accommodate visitors and give them a royal feel.
