1902 Restaurant Aswan
Egypt - Ras El Sudr - Marsa Alam - Luxor - Hurghada - Aswan - Alexandria - Abu Simbel - Sharm el Sheikh
The 1902 Restaurant, Aswan in Egypt is one such place where you can truly have an extra-ordinary dining experience! This 1902 Restaurant is situated in the Old Cataract Hotel and is distinctly different from a typical hotel restaurant! The reason- not only the food is sumptuous and innovative, but it offers a peculiar atmosphere which makes it one of the best restaurants in Egypt and probably in the world.
The moment you enter this restaurant you will feel that you are entering a catacomb laden with mystery in the Valley of Kings. It will seem as if you are going to approach the decked up tombs. The room is dark with numerous enormous archways adorned in maroon and red stripes and these archways lead to dimmed corridors.
The arches are only illuminated by the lights coming out of the Copper lanterns that are punctured with tiny holes. You can see flames from gas lights flickering on the walls as if delineating the passage to the tomb.
Under the gigantic, vaulted, mosque-like ceiling marked with very small panels of stained glass, small round tables are scattered. The 1902 Restaurant offers innovative French Cuisine and local fish specialties like ‘Howard Carter's Bolty Fish in Its Own Sarcophagus’, Egyptian Style Fish and et cetera. The 1902 Restaurant, Aswan also serves breakfast buffet and interestingly the juices are served in Moroccan containers! The stuff is also friendly and is dressed in colorful attires.
Apart from these, you will be entertained by the belly dancers, dancing around
the small tables or local Nubian bands performing at the corner of the dining
area, thus adding an extra zing to this mysterious yet wonderful place!
