Some of the famous inscriptions give us a record of many ancient facts and historical events like the famous Famine Stela. In ancient days people who either went out on an expedition or on their arrival after a great one went to offer their prayers to the Sehel Islands of Aswan. In most of the cases they left behind inscriptions that mainly consists their prayers and their pleadings for their perilous journey. Many of the inscriptions are records that kings ordered to their officials.
The inscriptions are mostly carved on the great surfaces of the rocks or they were bruised on the jumbled mounds of the granite that lay strewn on the islands of Sehel.
Now the granite boulders have a metal fencing in order to ensure safety. For visiting the eastern part of the site you are required to purchase a ticket at the entrance the eastern part houses a large and a beautiful hill. On the western part of the Sehel Islands of Aswan are some of the nice inscriptions. See the beautiful hieroglyphic inscriptions that are dedicated to Khnum, Anukis and other deities.
As you climb the hill you can see the spectacular view of the fascinating place. There is a distinct cataract area that is characteristically a rocky area in the boulders in the narrow channels of the River Nile formed after the construction of the old Aswan dam.
The Sehel Islands of Aswan has the remains of a chapel that was built in the goddess Anukis who is known as the ‘Mistress of Nubia. The chapel was built during the rule of the Dynasty XII.

The Sehel Islands is a small and a beautiful island located in the Aswan. It is 4 kilometers from the south of Aswan.
