Since the resettlement of the 1960s the Nubian population faced a major thereat that severely shook their culture and traditional ways of living. The art of the region that had a great influence of the ancient days suffered also much that it gradually began to loose its own identity thereby, starting to accept the newer trends. This was realized as a major loss to the art and culture of the past. As such recent attempts have been so as to provide education to the younger members of the Nubian culture. And it is the elders who are responsible to hand over their handicrafts to the youngsters.
After its opening the museum has promoted a number of programmes that is an inseparable part of the Aswan society. Local visitors who come here can buy things at special discount rates.
