It is necessary to know etiquette about any country before heading to it. And as Egypt is a Muslim country then it is must for any traveler to know about the various prevailing etiquettes in Egypt.

Officially called as the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt is located in northeastern Africa. As Egypt has rich culture and Egyptians are very keen about their customs and traditions so do not try to cross the religious limitations mainly while staying in Egypt. Etiquette particularly associated with the attire is must to know in case of Egypt. Business attire should be formal and conservative. Women must be careful about their dress sense during their staying period I n Egypt. Cover as much body as possible. Skirts and dresses should cover knees and sleeve less attire should be avoided.

Handshakes are the customary greeting way among the individuals of the same sex. While meeting a woman, the woman has to extend her hand first. But if she does not do then the man should bow his head in greeting. If you are invited for dinner to an Egyptian home, it is a social etiquette to offer good quality chocolates, sweets or pastries for the hostess.

Do not give flowers to an Egyptian, as they are usually reserved for weddings or illness. Always give gifts with the right hand or both hands. Remove your shoes before entering an Egyptian house. Your attire should be well conservative according to the Egyptian attire. Eat with the right hand only. Salting the food is considered as an insult.

Appointments should be made in advance. Always reconfirm meeting again and again. Egyptians are tough negotiators. It is a advisable to include older people in your team as it is a general etiquette of Egypt.
