Arriving Egypt by Air
Egypt's only international airport is the Cairo International Airport. Australia,
Canada, France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom and England have regular flights
to Cairo.
Arriving Egypt by Sea
Adriatic lines offer car ferries from Europe to Egypt. Venice and Bari, Italy;
Piraeus (Athens), Greece; and Iraklion, Crete, are linked to Alexandria. Discounts
are available for students, youths, families and Eurailpass holders.
Arriving Egypt by Train
Europe visitors can also travel to Egypt through the means of train. Travelers
under 26 years can use B.I.J. tickets available from Euro train. One can also
use Eurorail passes for arriving Egypt.
Getting Around in Egypt
By Air: EgyptAir, Air Sinai and Zas airlines cover all the cities of Egypt. Domestic tickets can be bought with Egyptian pounds and are cheaper when purchased in Egypt.
By Train: All cities and villages of Egypt are well connected by frequent train service. As all stations are marked in Arabic language (except major city) so you'll have to ask for where to get off.
By Bus: Cheap and the main mode of transportation in Egypt are buses but are uncomfortable. However special bus services (Super Jet and East Delta) run between Cairo and Alexandria, and to Luxor, Aswan, Sinai and the Red Sea coast.
By Boat: Most of the Cruise ships are run by the major hotels or by private companies. However another cheaper way to travel the Nile waters is to hire a felucca.
By Taxi: Among all Egypt's transportations, taxis are the best. They
are fairly cheap in comparison to the international standards. There are two
types of taxis in Egypt-Shared or service-uncomfortable one and the private
taxis-expensive but safer.
