Transportation in Sharm el Sheikh

The well known city of Sharm el Sheik that lies on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula has a well developed system of transportation. Sharm el Sheik can be accessed both by waterways and roadways in addition to airways that joins the city to all the major places.

Bus service
The city is served by the national bus service that serves other places like Cairo, Dahab, Ras- Sudr, Taba and others.
The National Bus Service operates daily joining the major places of the towns of the peninsula. There are also a number of buses that run once in a week. So it is highly recommended to check the schedules and the dates before hand.

Taxis
Most of the tourists believe that the best way to come to the city of Sharm el -Sheik is by local taxis. But before you board a taxi must make sure that you confirm the prices. Taxis are metered but determining the prices in advance can be a benefit for you. Taxis taking you to long destinations are however cheap. You can also be benefited by the independent cars operated by the local tour operators.

The international airport of Sharm el Sheik better known as the Ophira Airport has a number of flights that connects the city with all the important places of the world.

If you wish to drive yourself, then remember that law does not permit the citizens to leave the main roads. If you wish to drive yourself then you are required to keep a certain amount as a temporary deposit.
