The Ratu Sir Lal Sukana Day in Fiji honors Fiji's foremost statesman. He was born a Chief of the Bau Royal House, graduated from Oxford, served as a barrister in London, was a part of the French Foreign Legion in World War One and decorated for gallantry. Ratu Sir Lal Sakuna then returned to Fiji.
