Fiji Population
Fiji population has an annual growth rate of 1.4 percent as per the statistics of 2006. The median age of the Fiji population is around 24.6 years. Figures show that in every 1000 people, about 23 are newborn babies. On the other hand, 6 out of every 1000 people die. The Fiji population maintains a sex ratio of 1.05:1for male and female at birth. In the 15-64 years category, there is one male against each female. This is considered to be healthy sex ratio. Infant mortality rate is poised at about 12 deaths per 1,000 live births.
The average life expectancy of the Fiji population is 69.82 years. Male have average life expectancy of 67.32 years where as female have the average life expectancy of 72.45 years.
Christians are a majority among the Fiji population. They consist of 52 percent of the total population. Most of the Fijians practice Christianity. The Indians in this country are mostly Hindus. They account for about 38 percent of the total population of Fiji. Among the other religions, 37 percent of the population is Methodists and 9 percent of the population is Roman Catholics. Muslims are minority and account for about 8 percent of the Fiji population. The adults of the Fiji population have an HIV/AIDS prevalence rate of 0.1 percent.
