Transportation in Fiji

Fiji is bordered by the calm waters of the South Pacific Ocean. Composed of almost 322 islands, Fiji welcomes travelers from all parts of the world. All the islands are however not accessible as most of them are still inhabited. The islands which are accessible offer great scenic beauty. One of the favorite pastimes of the tourists visiting this beautiful island country continues to be either island hopping or just watching sea waves pouncing on the sea shore. The main two islands in Fiji are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. These islands contain dense forests and high mountains which often rise up to 1300 meters above the sea level. Transportation in Fiji is well developed. So getting around to the chain of islands is not a problem. Some of the transportation options available to you are flights, ferry service, bus service and even taxis.

There are a variety of transportation mediums available to help you get around this beautiful island national hassle free. Since Fiji is a chain of more than three hundred islands, transportation in Fiji heavily relies on the inner island ferry service. The ferry service is really inexpensive. Travel over the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and be accompanied by the majestic dolphins. Another alternative to hop islands fast is by air route. The domestic carriers like the Fiji Air and Sun Air regularly carry tourists to different islands. If you however want to travel in style and in much comfort, board a helicopter. The best reason to board a helicopter is that they can take you to even those islands which do not have a long runway. A helicopter also provides you a superb bird's eye view of the islands. Bus service too links many islands to the main islands in Fiji. Shuttle bus service or local bus services are a good way to interact with the local people.
