You definitely need to have your Visa first before planning a Trip to Fiji. According to the Fiji Visa Information you can be allowed two types of Visa; the Single-entry visa and the Multiple-entry visa. Visa in Fiji is valid till three months of your stay in the beginning. However you can stretch it further by applying to the Immigration department of Fiji.

They will be given a special visitor's permit to stay for a four months in Fiji. This can however be further prolonged to six months on request. You will also not require a Visa if you are in Fiji for a short halt of less than three hours before heading to another country and if you remain within the airport premises.

Tips for application of Visa in Fiji:

According to the Fiji Visa Information you can apply for a visa in the country only when you have certain essential things in hand such as an official passport, your tickets to and from Fiji, a legal permit statement from the police station of your respective country, also authorized evidence that you have never been convicted of any criminal office. You will also need to submit the filled up form along with three of your passport sized photographs. The payment for application of Visa in Fiji can be made by either draft or cheque and cash only if you do so in yourself. You have to wait for about two to three weeks after application, before you get your visa
