Avignon Film Festival can best be described as the stage of the transatlantic crossroads of films and filmmakers. The four days and nights of Avignon Film Festival showcases thought-provoking, entertaining films complete with savoring wonderful foods and wines. It also provides a perfect stage to the Avignon Filmmakers for discussing cinema with independent filmmakers from Europe and the United States and making new friendships in the heart of Province! It brings together independent filmmakers from the United States, France and Europe. Their mission is to encourage deeper understanding and appreciation for contemporary, thought-provoking cinema by showcasing the work of innovative filmmakers.The Film that is showcased in The Avignon Film Festival also comes up in the cinema halls and centre in the city. Avignon has about 20 cinemas. Cinéma Utopia , at La Manutention arts center, 4 rue escalier Ste Anne shows undubbed art house films. Utopia has another cinema located at 5 rue Figuière, north of place St Didier, where dubbed films creep into the screenings. Utopia also produces La Gazette Utopia , a free monthly listings magazine. Cinema Vox , 22 place de l'Horloge offers mainstream films, with the odd art house film – some in the original language. One of Avignon's largest cinemas is the 10-screen Pathé Cap Sud , 175 rue Pierre Sémard, route de Marseille
