The Chateau d'If is one of the highly popular France Tourist Attractions. Chateau

d'If as a historical monument.
Chateau d'If in France is a building of three stories. The monument is about
28 meters long on each of its sides. The structure is surrounded by three towers
which have large gun embrasure. The rest of the If Island is heavily bastioned.
The cliffs form the platforms of surmounted guns.
Chateau d'If was used as a prison in earlier times. But the prison ceased to
use by the end of the nineteenth century. The troops were removed and Chateau
d'If and on 23rd September 1890, it was opened for the public. Since then, it
has emerged as one of the key spots for sightseeing in France. The Château
d'If is open for public viewing round the year. From the period of January to
March and from October to December, the Chateau is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Then, from April to September, it opens at the same time and closes at 6.30pm.
There are ferry services available from Marseille's old port to reach the destination
with ease.
