Giverny

Location of Giverny: Giverny is a small and picturesque village in France beside the Seine River. It is toward the west of the city of Paris and is the most popular destination that people choose for their excursions from Paris. The village became popular, as it was the resident of the impressionist painter Claude Monet. Monet had lived in Giverny from 1883. How to reach Giverny: You can easily access the village by taking a train from Paris Gare Saint Lazare to Vernon. You can then take a bus or hire a taxi to reach Giverny from Vernon. The train journey will take approximately 45 minutes. The Paris hotels also conduct bus tours that take you to Giverny among many other places.

The Monet House: the house is accessible to visitors on paying a nominal entry charge. The decor of the house shows some oriental influence. The gardens in front of the house are especially spectacular with the small Japanese bridge, water lilies and weeping willows. The water lilies of this garden have occurred in plenty of the artist's impressionist paintings. There is also a gift store attached to the house from where you can buy some souvenir of your visit to Giverny.

The Giverny Museum: This is an art museum and features plenty of paintings that reveal how American artists were influenced by Impressionism.

Chateau de Bizzy: This castle is several years old but is still well maintained. The visitors enjoy a stroll through the castle park. There is also a guided tour that takes you through the castle and help you explore all its rooms and the displays.
