If you are in France on 14th July you should never miss the celebrations and the mood of festivity that grips Paris on this day. You cannot miss the miss the Bastille Day Parade at the city center. Most people flock to the Champs - Elysees so that they get the best view but you can also take your stand in the route that the parade takes. On Bastille Day, there is the parade that consists of the fire fighters, military personnel, the police men and at times the President as well. There are huge crowds that come out in to the streets and most parts of the city center are kept well guarded with fences built around it. The heart of the city being fenced it becomes quite a difficult proposition trying to go around the city on this particular day. More over all the metro stations are kept closed as this is a national holiday. The attractions of Bastille Day, Paris includes a huge fire work show that is arranged near the Eiffel Tower. If you are sitting at a nearby bar then the site is bound to be fascinating. This place is known as the Champ- de- Mars. You will be surprised to know that people gather here from the afternoon itself so that they can get the best view of the fireworks. This colorful fire show lasts for an hour with music being played at the back ground. The show is grand and you will feel the magic seeping in. the Eiffel Tower itself sparkles on the Bastille Day and there is alos the French flag that is put up. Keep in mind The day is bound to be hot and you should remember to carry a bottle of water along with you. For protection against the harsh rays of the sun remember to take a hat as well. Reaching the Champs Elysees might pose a problem as the Metro remains closed and all the other modes of transport are packed to the very brim. So take your time and the rule of the day is to move along with the crowd.
