The Louvre Museum of Paris in France is one of the world's oldest and largest art galleries and museums.Previously it was a royal palace. The Louvre was established in 1793. It boasts a long history of conserving famous works of art right from the period of the Capetian dynasty till today.
Some of the famous masterpieces of world art preserved here include masteroieces by Leonardo da Vinci like Mona Lisa and Madonna of the Rocks, Alexandra of Antioch's Venus de Milo.
The museum has seven departments and these showcase an exhaustive collection of world art, including Asian and African art, Egyptian, Roman antiquity and much more!
This large museum has several axes, such as the axis of the French Revolution, the historical axis and many others. You can see here the equestrian statue of Louis XIV.
On the axis of the Champs-Élysées you can see the fantastic glass marvel of the Louvre Pyramid. Built in 1989, it serves as the main entrance to the Louvre.
