The Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris was created by Andre le Notre who was the gardener of Loius XIV as a measure to improve the view from the garden of Tuileries. Towards the end of the 18th Century the length of the avenue was lengthened. It now ran to the Arc de Triomphe from the Palace de la Concorde.
