Golf is a sport in which an individual player or a team hits a ball into a target hole. The equipment that is used to hit the ball is called a "club". Golf does not have any fixed area of play unlike other games. Golf is known to have originated in Netherlands. It is being played in the British Isles for at least five centuries. People are increasingly taking to golf as a leisure activity and for recreational purposes. Golf is generally viewed as an upper class pastime. Established people from different walks of life are playing this game to unwind themselves. Golf is an emerging game in Berlin. Extensive expanse of lush green golf courses in hilly terrains are a special delight. There are a number of golf courses in the mountainous terrain of Berlin. Berlin has a number of courses of international standard. Robert Trent Jones or Arnold Palmer has designed some of the best golf courses in Germany which attracts golfers from all around the world. For starters who would like to learn this game or improve their techniques, most clubs offer special courses and memberships. Though apparently, it seems that golf is an easy game, it is quite a task to hit the target or even be closer. This game is a kind of addiction for those who play. The first stroke on each hole is done from the Tee (officially, teeing ground). Here the player can use a tee (a small wooden or plastic peg). Using the tee it is easier to hit the ball. Before the modern tee came into use, early golfers often used a small pyramid of sand to keep the ball in place.
Though Golf in Berlin is not as popular as soccer or even tennis but it is
fast emerging as a popular sport. The participation of young boys and girls
in Golf is growing in number though participation in the age bracket of 45 to
65 is much more.
