Alexanderplatz, Berlin is one of the busiest places in Berlin. The place is considered to be a place full of activity. It was considered to be the cattle market during the 1700's. The market was popularly known as Ochsenmarkt or Ox market. After the visit of Alexander I the place was rechristened to be Alexanderplatz.

During the World War II like many other places Alexanderplatz, Berlin was also completely destroyed. The place was considered to be the representation of socialistic culture. The vast television tower was one of the prime attractions of the place. The present day look of the place is an example of the town planning of East Germany. The place is known to be the true centre by the local residents of Berlin.

The television tower in Alexanderplatz, Berlin is known to be as Fernsehturm. It boasts to be the biggest arrangement in the entire Europe. In 1969 a number of architects took pride to build this 1197 ft long building. The tower gives a panoramic view of the entire Berlin city. The revolving restaurant on the top of the building attracts a lot of tourists.

Alexanderplatz, Berlin added two more names to it in the year 1969.The World Time clock and the Fountain of Friendship. The present day government has planned to build skyscrapers to reach the level of competition with other places. The reconstruction is done by Hans Kohlhoff.

The Berlin Alexanderplatz is a famous novel by Alfred Doblin was published in the year 1929. The novel revolves on the life and structure of the Alexanderplatz, Berlin. The novel was also adapted into a movie thus the place got a lot of popularity from the novel and film.
