The building where the museum is now housed used to be a summer residence of electoral Prince Carl Theodor von Pfalz-Sulzbach. Erected between 1756 and 1773; the building was designed by Nicolas de Pigage. This building is a good example of the transition from late baroque to classical architecture.

You can take part in a guided tour to explore the museum. Organized on every first Sunday in each month, the tour starts at 2:30 in the afternoon.
