Auftakt Festival, Frankfurt is one of the premium festivals of the city. It is celebrated every year in between August and September.

The event is celebrated in different theaters within Frankfurt's enthralling Alte Oper. The Auftakt Festival celebrates contemporary orchestral and it is considered to be one of the biggest musical events of Germany. The name of the event is reflective of the theme of the event, the name in German means both “start” and “upbeat” The event comprises of numerous concerts, which focuses on a single composer and soloist. Apart from this, the festival also sees the gathering of symphonies and ensembles from different parts of the country. In the year 2006 Kaija Saariaho was the composer of the festival and the festival witnessed a symposium devoted to her work and six concert performances of her orchestral and chamber works. The year 2007 edition of the festival will see the onus shift to renowned musician Julia Fischer, who will be playing works by Dvorák, Mendelssohn and Brahms.

Most of the concerts and programs of the festival start at 8 pm and the price of the tickets of the festival is reasonable; the cost of tickets range from EUR 32 to EUR 110.
