Location of Frankfurt
Germany - Cologne - Dusseldorf - Frankfurt - Munich - Stuttgart - Hamburg - Berlin
Located in Central Germany the latitude of Frankfurt is 57°9" North and longitude of this city is 2°9" west. Considered as the lifeline of this city, Frankfurt is located on both sides of the Main River. The heart of this city is located on the north of Main River. Though a major industrial modern city, the southern section of the city contains the Frankfurt City Forest. Largest forest in any German city, the forest is sprawled across an area of approximately 48 square kilometers. The forest covers southern areas such as Schwanheim, Niederrad, Sachsenhausen and Oberrad.
Frankfurt is divided into 46 Stadtteile or city divisions. These 46 city divisions are again combined into 16 area districts or Ortsbezirke. The Stadtteiles were originally far off sections of this city. However to cope up with the increasing pressure of population and to give space to new businesses, these suburbs have now been incorporated into the main city. The city is divided into 118 city districts which in Germany are known as Stadtbezirke. These city districts serve as administrative units in huge cities like Frankfurt. The number of city districts depends on population of a city. If a city is housed by more than one hundred and fifty thousand people, the city districts are formed for better administration reasons.
