Leinwandhaus actually is a historical museum, which was built way back in the middle ages. In the past this steep-roofed Gothic building was the heart of Frankfurt's rag trade and was used as a store house for storing, measuring and weighing garments. Even today, the building features a measuring cylinder on the outer wall of the building. This two storey building was built during the end of the 14th century and it was built by the renowned architect Madern Gerthener. During the Second World War, the building was destroyed and subsequently it was rebuilt in 1980. Presently the building has been transformed into a museum that houses numerous exhibits, showcasing the culture and traditions of the country.
