Struwwelpeter Museum, Frankfurt is a unique museum of the city. The entire museum is dedicated to Frankfurt's best-known children's author and doctor, Heinrich Hoffmann and museum has also been designed as a tribute to him. In fact the name of the museum has been derived from the title of the children's classic, Struwwelpeter or “Shock-headed Peter”. Heinrich Hoffmann is considered to be an icon of the city as well as the country; he used to write poems and stories for children. Struwwelpeter is one of his well known books, the book not only became popular in Germany, and it was widely read all over the world. In fact the book has got several English translations, the famous being the Mark Twain’s translation of the book. You will find many versions of the book in the Struwwelpeter Museum, which include the one with the German version on one page and the Mark Twain version on the other.

In the Struwwelpeter Museum, you will find extensive memorabilia related to Heinrich Hoffmann. The museum comprises of exhibits like letters, drawings, sketchbooks, manuscripts, Struwwelpeter memorabilia and parodies from the 19th and 20th centuries. Besides this, the museum also houses a collection of Hoffmann's books, photographs, documents and personal items. There is also one significant and rare work by Hoffmann, which he wrote for the reformation of psychiatry and also as a supporter of the democratic movement of1848. Apart from this the museum also hosts exhibitions containing contemporary pictures of Struwwelpeter from time to time.
