Main Tower Frankfurt

Germany - Cologne - Dusseldorf - Frankfurt - Munich - Stuttgart - Hamburg - Berlin
Frankfurt is a major business hub in Germany. This central city in Germany is home to the European Central Bank and Deutsche Bank. Besides, other important multinational companies are located in this metropolis. To give space to so many business houses and to overcome the shortage of construction grounds, Frankfurt skyline is rapidly getting changed by sky kissing buildings. The city has more than ten buildings that are over 150 meters each in height. Despite the locals being accustomed to the high rises; when Main Tower at the city centre came up; the locals too could not help but appreciate the design.

Completed in 1999, the Main Tower is a new addition to Frankfurt’s numerous other skyscrapers. Though the locals are accustomed to skyscrapers, this building impressed everybody. The front of the building is made entirely of glass. This kind of structure was built for the first time in Europe. The Main Tower building is actually a combination of two high rises. These two separate sky touching buildings are linked to one another by a bridge. Made of durable steel structure, the bridge is enveloped by durable glass.

The first building is a 170 meters high and is square in shape. With a height of 199.5 meters, the other building is taller than the first one. This round building is covered with non-reflective glass exterior. This prevents sunlight reflecting from the glass surface to create any sort of problems for people in other high rises across the street.

The Main Tower building has a viewing platform and this building is the only one of its kind in the city of Frankfurt which provides tourists a spectacular bird’s eye view of the city. Everyday lifts carry thousands of tourists to the viewing platform. This building has a restaurant too. So after a spectacular sight seeing from atop the Main Tower, you can enjoy a good meal at the gourmet restaurant. This building is important for another reason as Europe’s highest radio and television studio is located on Main Tower’s 54th floor.
