Germany - Cologne - Dusseldorf - Frankfurt - Munich - Stuttgart - Hamburg - Berlin
The Romerberg, Frankfurt is located in Rathaus Platz. The district of Romerberg of Frankfurt is the tourist destination which has high historic connotations. In the medieval period, Romerberg of Frankfurt is the city where Charlemagne had established his fort.
It is one of the most significant historic sites of the city of Frankfurt. For centuries, the medieval square of Romerberg has remained to be considered as the most important hub for the governance of the city. The Römerberg, Frankfurt was demolished and dismantled during the World War II. At that time, most of the original buildings were ravaged. After all the leveling, Römerberg was partly renovated and reconstructed. But giving too much attention to the details was done away with. To the tourists and visitors from foreign countries, the reconstructed district of Romerberg may look unreal. The fact that it is faked can’t be denied.
The city hall known as the Römer is located to the western side of the square. Down the east end of Romerberg, Frankfurt one can find the row of Ostzeile, the half-timber houses. These Ostzeiles are the renovated part of the ones that were originally built up during the 15th and 16th centuries. The centre of the square is occupied by the Fountain of Justice. There is a tourist office in Römerberg. Various public festivals are also organized on the site of Römerberg.
